The latest Galil DMC Setup Utility (version 4.7) does not install under Windows 64 bit operating systems.

This can make it difficult to configure, back-up and restore settings for Galil controllers that are running under Windows 64 bit operating systems.

The attached ZIP file contains a Galil utility program (beta version) to backup and restore the Galil controller settings and any embedded programs from the controller's permanent memory.

Installation

1. Download the attached ZIP file and unpack it.
2. Run the GalilBackupSetup installer. For Windows7 installation, we suggest right-click on this program and select "Install As Administrator".



Notes for x64 PC:

When installing, 32bit Windows installs correctly and puts the backup command file: 40x0.bck. on the local hard drive but 64bit doesn't.

Following installation, you should manually copy the file 40x0.bck to the Galil backup program folder. (eg. program files(x86)\Galil backup\)

Back-Up Galil Settings

1. Run the Galil Backup program: Start Menu --> All Programs --> Galil--> Galil Backup
2. Check the option boxes for Backup Actions.
3. Specify the path to the location where you want to save backup data.
4. Click the "Save Backup Data from Controller" button.
5. You will be asked to specify which Galil DMC you want, much like the Galil Tools "Connect" function.



The Backup data file is a zip file containing 3 files (array, parameters/variables and program)

Notes:


If during installation, you did not copy the Galil Supplied backup command list file: 40x0.bck, you must specify the path to this file manually.

Click on the "Change Path" button, and navigate to the location of 40x0.bck.

Restore Saved Galil Settings

1. Run the Galil Backup program: Start Menu --> All Programs --> Galil--> Galil Backup
2. Check the option boxes for Load Backup Actions.
3. Specify the path to the location from where you want to retrieve the saved backup data.
4. Click the "Load Backup Data to Controller" button.
5. You will be asked to specify which Galil DMC you want, much like the Galil Tools "Connect" function.
